Lara is a Melbourne-based emerging artist whose work explores the emotional layers of human connection through expressive colour and contemporary still-life influence. Her love for painting began in Kindergarten, where she longed to pick up a brush but was too shy to ask - a quiet observation of the world that now forms the foundation of her reflective, introspective practice. 

 

Drawn deeply to colour theory, Lara approaches each piece with curiosity and experimentation, fascinated by how colours collide and transform one another. This interaction mirrors the way humans influence, soften, or sharpen each other through relationships. 

 

Lara's dutch heritage subtly shapes her style, particularly her connection to the tradition of still-life painting. While her work is modern and abstract, she carries forward the still-life sensibility of pausing, noticing and giving emotional weight to everyday moments. 

 

Art is one of the few spaces where Lara allows herself to fail and return without fear. Stepping away and coming back is part of her process, mirroring the rhythms of human connection itself.
